Group Counseling:
We will be offering various support groups on a variety of topics such as, divorce/separation, grief, anger management, social skills, and general support. Groups meet once a week, during rotating periods. Students participate in groups through a parent or staff referral, or they may refer themselves. Written parent permission is required.

W.E.B. (Welcome Everybody) Orientation:
Trained 8th grade WEB Leaders facilitate 6th Grade Orientation via a series of small group activities and a campus tour. WEB Leaders also do social follow-ups with students throughout the year. Academic follow-ups include classroom presentations on important topics such as, Rumors, Teamwork, Attitude etc.
New Student Shadows:
New Student Shadows are students in grades 6, 7 and 8, who are trained to welcome new students to Pleasanton Middle School. The new student will attend the Shadow's classes the first day of school, and give them a tour of our campus. Shadows also make sure that new students are introduced to other classmates and will invite them to lunch.
Classroom Presentations:
Counselors visit 6th, 7th and 8th grade classrooms year-round to present information on Character Education and Life Skills, as well as to guide students through scheduling procedures and class selection for the following year.
Student Study Team (SST) Meetings:
SST meetings are designed to assist struggling students with strategies that may help improve academic performance. Teachers provide input on student progress and suggest ways for students to be successful.
Academic Support Class:
Credentialed teachers supervise this after-school homework program. This is a state-funded program for students who are academically at-risk. Specific criteria need to be met in order for students to be placed in this program. Please contact you child's counselor if you have any questions.
Library Homework Club:
Our library study hall is open for students who wish to work independently on homework and school projects before and after school. There is a credentialed teacher on duty for supervision. Please contact the counseling office at 426-4396 for hours.
